Hellespont

Hellespont is a Macintosh OS X programme that reads the Beta Code files on the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae CD-ROM, allowing the Greek text to be displayed and searched.

Note: Hellespont will not run on OS X 10.7 Lion and beyond. This is because Apple no longer supports Power PC applications in the latest versions of OS X. (I'm now using Diogenes on my iMac, which is available for free here.)

Hellespont is not a port of legacy code. It is written entirely in Objective-C for the OS X operating system, and uses only the Foundation and Application Kit frameworks.

Version 2.0 of Hellespont is now available, and costs 66 Canadian dollars. It has single-file search capability, a passage-locator panel, and allows the size of the Greek font to be changed. In addition, significant portions of the underlying code have been re-written. An image of the Hellespont screen can be seen by clicking here.

A demo version of Hellespont 2.0, packaged as a ZIP file, can be downloaded by clicking here. The demo version will allow you to read only the works of Acropolites. All other features in the demo version work normally.
